How to Reduce Clutter in Your Office

How to Reduce Clutter in Your Office - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. When people find out that I am a professional organizer, they always say, my #1 nemesis is paper. Please help me deal with paper in their office. And so, these are just going to be some quick tips that you can incorporate into your office to help you deal with all those little bits and pieces that come into your life on a day to day basis. Here is a simple whiteboard that hung on the wall. You want to make sure that you have divided up that whiteboard into different categories. So I have to dos, meeting topics, notes. And you want to make sure that it is customized to your life, and the things that are going on in your life. And then, this is a place where you can just throw stuff up. So you have things come to your head, you write them down. It does not need to look nice. You know, you are just going to throw your ideas up so they are not floating around on your tabletop. Over here, these are some simple wall pockets that you can pick up, pretty much, at any office supply store. And they fasten to your wall, either by double sided tape or by screws. And then you want to make sure that you have them labeled, so everything is assigned a home. You can put file folders in those, you can use them for incoming mail, outgoing mail, bills to pay, things to read. It keeps things up off of your tabletop into a nice condensed area. It makes it look neater, and your space clearer. One of my last tips ...

Scrapbooking Storage Ideas

!±8± Scrapbooking Storage Ideas

Scrapbooking is a wonderful past time. It is becoming very popular. What better way to display your memories and keep them alive than with making a beautiful piece of art that will add enjoyment to you photos. However, scrapbooking takes lots of supplies, papers, embellishments, and many other little pieces are parts. In order to enjoy scrapbooking and clear your mind so that you can be creative you must keep your supplies organized. Here are some tips that will help you do just that.

Paper Storage

Organizing your paper supply is the biggest challenge that scrappers face. Using stackable paper trays is one method, but there are many ideas that you can adapt so that finding just the right color or theme is easy.

Wall mounts are nice in that they are up off the desk and on the wall. You can either purchase a pre-made wall mount specifically for paper or build your own. Having your paper displayed in wall mounts makes them easy to see the colors or themes that you need right away.

Units called Construction Paper Storage are wonderful! You usually see these in class rooms. However, the price of these units are acceptable and can be obtained for a reasonable price. You can then organize your paper in to each cubby making them easy to view and pull out as needed.

Hoppers work well if you have desk space. You can sort you paper in an upright positions. This is also an excellent option as it is inexpensive and makes accessing your paper supply easy. Accordion files are the least expensive, and they work. But they do take a little digging to find what you need.

Your smaller Supplies

Pen caddies are a must have. If you are trying to utilize space that is limited a pen caddy if you invest in the type that spin. You can spin it to find scissors, glue sticks, pens and many other types of small tools that you are constantly looking for without having them lay all over your work area.

Embellishments

Boxes that have divided compartments are perfect for the job of keeping your embellishments under control. These types of containers can be found everywhere, from your local craft store or at any hardware store. If you have an old tackle box laying around in the garage you can put it to use instead of letting it take up room in storage.

Scrapbooking Furniture

Scrapbooking furniture is the ultimate desire. Scrapbooking furniture is not for everyone as it can run you a bit of money, but it surely makes cleaning up easy. Lets face it, scrapping can get very messy. And what better way to hide it all away then to just fold up the table and close the doors until you are ready to get back into your creative mood.

If you want to get your scrapbooking supplies organized you have many options. Just use your creative side to come up with solutions that best fit your style and personality.

Scrapbook Organisation - Make Finding And Using Your Supplies Easier

!±8± Scrapbook Organisation - Make Finding And Using Your Supplies Easier

Every scrapbook enthusiast will benefit from a bit of scrapbook organisation. You may decide to devote an area of your house or purchase storage products to help you keep your scrapbook tools at easy reach and your scrapbook paper neatly stored away. Either way, organising your supplies will keep them tidy and prevent your scrapbook paper and accessories from being damaged.

Scrapbook organisation will not only benefit you it will benefit your entire family. How many times have you been moaned at for leaving a stack of paper on a table, or having a messy desk that is on view to others?. By making sure all of your craft supplies have their own place you will not only find it easier to tidy up when you are finished you will also benefit from having a clear area to work on and have all your scrapbook tools within easy reach.

If you do not have the space to dedicate a whole room to your craft supplies I think it is well worth investing in some furniture that contains draws and areas that you can store your craft supplies without them being on display. Some of us are lucky enough to have a spare room where we can shut the door on our mess but those who do not need to have adequate storage that will hide our hobby from any disapproving eyes.

For most scrapbook makers their paper is their most treasured possession, if you do not store your scrapbook paper correctly you will soon find it has become creased, torn and looks tatty. You can now purchase 12 x 12 paper trays similar to those you see in craft shops, these are a fantastic way of storing your paper because they can be piled on top of each other so do not take up huge amounts of space and they will keep your papers looking as good as new. You can also buy an acid free storage box for scrapbooks.

Scrapbook organisation is not just about taking care of your paper and scrapbook tools. There is also your peel offs, brads, embellishments not to mention all your stamps and ink pads that you have gradually accumulated. Have you considered how you can store them? Well, the easiest solution is to store them in large plastic containers however these can be bulky and cumbersome. I have found attaching a magnetic board above my work station is a great way to store metal brads and embellishments. Simply stick them to the board and you can not only see what you have, you will no longer have to wade through large storage boxes of bits and pieces to find the brad you want.

Although these are many products, pieces of furniture, and storage boxes available to make scrapbook organisation a lot easier, these can be extremely expensive so why not create your own homemade storage boxes and use the money you have saved to buy more craft supplies!.

Quirky Photo Gift Ideas

!±8± Quirky Photo Gift Ideas

Having trouble buying someone a really unique gift? Most of us are more than capable of coming up with outstanding gift ideas for other people, but it's not so easy to put ideas in practice when we have to do the buying.

That's why when it comes to digital photo gifts, it's a very different story. You'll never be stumped again! Virtually anything that can be printed on can be personalized with a photo. The result...even the hardest to buy for are a cinch to please.

Where to start

There is a huge variety of products online. Consider who the gift is for and you can start to narrow down the possibilities. Think of hobbies, likes and dislikes, family history, work, pets, family, kids and so on.

Once you get brainstorming, you'll see how many possibilities there are. For inspiration, browse photo lifestyle sites like Shutterfly.com, Photoworks.com, and KodakGallery.com.

Usual Photo Gift Ideas

Okay, these are the photo gifts that come to mind immediately. They're popular, fun, and for the most part practical (you need a teddy bear for a good sleep, right?). For example, mugs are the most popular photo gift of all time, but you can make them quirky and fun by choosing a stand out photo, like a silly face or funny expression.

Photo mugs
Calendars
Teddy bears
T-Shirts
Mousepads
Magnets
Key rings

Unusual Photo Gift Ideas

These gift ideas are great for people with specific hobbies or interests. For example, playing cards from Grandmas who love to play bridge, fleece blankets for Moms who like to snuggle on the couch, and luggage tags for Dads who travel. You get the idea.

One photo gift we really love is the photo pillowcase. Use a photo of favorite pets, toys, or sports and you've got a pillow your son or daughter will love to burrow into at bedtime.

Puzzles
Fleece blankets
Coasters
Sets of blank note cards
Pillowcase
Jewelry boxes and storage boxes
Desk organizers
Luggage tags
Playing cards
Canvas tote bags
Poster prints and canvas prints
Display tiles
Wine storage box
Plates
Apron
Charms for necklaces and bracelets
Christmas ornaments

Extra special gifts

If you aren't in a huge rush, take some time to make the ultimate in personalized gifts: a photo book. Photo books are now more popular than ever as people give up on scrapbooking and old-fashioned photo albums. Finished books are professionally printed and bound and look like they belong on a coffee table (not a box in the basement).

To design and create your own photo book, all you need is an account at a photo printing site, like Shutterfly. Use their online tools to upload your photos and drag and drop them into page layouts. So easy. Every size of photo book as available, from large studio albums (12x12) to small purse size brag books. Give yourself a couple of hours, and then wow your friends and relatives with this awesome gift. They'll think you're a pro!

Homework Organizer

!±8± Homework Organizer

Have you ever tired of picking up the tasks of your children from all over the house?

Although my daughter has asked for the tasks in his room, usually ends in a corner, under her bed in her bed in her closet - wherever they may have found a place to stash. Once I had for so long that when we finally went through them, we literally had a kitchen garbage bag full of discarded cards compulsory school to go.

As we go through the stack of cards, we found a lot ofThings that my daughter and I wanted to keep both. Some of the graphics that I use to hold the job. Some of the special projects he has done, I wanted to put it somewhere where we would be able to find 20 years from now.

We just threw away a lot, but there were some things that would keep my daughter, that we simply do not know what to do with it. I had to find a way to organize what was left, then again not always end up scattered in the wind.

We have looked in an officesupply store and found a file organizer that seemed to suit her needs. She selected a purple plastic filing box that is the right size for 8 1/2 x 11 hanging file folders. My daughter labeled the folders with the names of her different classes (e.g., Life Sciences, Health, Language Arts).

My daughter and I came up with this filing idea when she was in about fifth grade. A freshman in high school this year, she still has many of the papers she has brought home since the fifth grade. This has been great not only for papers and projects she completed, but also for keeping reference materials she still goes back to from time to time.
